# Script Type Function Block Command: Text API

### Command Description

This command allows [Text API](/vspy-3-documentation/3.9.15/vehicle-network-interface-hardware/vehicle-spy-text-api.md) commands to be sent by a function block.

### Value Field Parameters

Double-click in the **Value** field to bring up the dialog in Figure 1, where you can set up the parameters for the command you want to send.

### Expression

You build the command string here using the [Expression Builder](/vspy-3-documentation/3.9.15/shared-features-in-vehicle-spy/shared-features-expression-builder.md). This can be a literal string or can be formed from signal values.

### Assign Result to Application Signal (Optional)

Results returned from sending the **Text API** command can be assigned to an application signal by selecting it here.

### Remote Server

Use this optional drop-down box to send the command to a different computer or copy of Vehicle Spy.
